One of the first weapons of humanity was the Bow and arrow.

Is féidir ach a dhéanamh maidir le himpleachtaí a éabhlóid mar dátaí sé ar ais go dtí seo i stair. An fear na tréimhse Paleolithic déanach bhuanú foirm ionadh fhorbair an Bow agus arrow i líníochtaí uaimh ar fud an Spáinn agus an nDeisceart na Fraince. Thus we have all reasons to draw the conclusion that this form is to be considered as a result of a long term evolution procedure taking place in the Paleolithic. Archeologists and ethnologists presume that the bow was preceded by the throwing dart, which was labored more and more precisely following the development of the technical potentials of humanity. As time wore on it was provided a smaller arrowhead, and was made to reach its target by more and more subservient methods. One of these methods was a sort of rope looped around the tail of the dart, which when pulled, made the dart fly towards its target following the trajectory provided by its rotating motion. Another method was the dart-throwing plank, which facilitated the more effective exploitation of human muscle-strength. Both ancient methods were still in use at the turning of the century in North-Eastern Asia, and North America.
